On a quest for the bees across Bhutan, her guide and driver introduced her to beekeepers in Bumthang, Thimpu, Paro and visited the Honey Houses in the southern hills of this beautiful country. Meditating in temples perched high in the Himalayas, observing Apis cerana, Apis dorsata and Apis laboriosa as well as the recently introduced Apis mellifera. Tasting some of the finest and purest honeys in the world produced from high altitude bees, Apis cerana honey created from bees collecting nectar from citrus and cardamon, plus 4000 metre high Apis mellifera clover and wild flower honey. Meeting the people of Bhutan and learning about their historic culture, as well as the influence of the west encroaching on ancient traditions and Buddhist way of life.
